Hmm ok...from the sounds of things i reckon that actually there are alot of people who want to RP, but don't know how/don't know people/afraid to get involved.
So how about an RP school to help show people, how to RP properly and get involved.
Not quite sure how to separate it up.
But have different lessons such as how to speak. how to use emotes, maybe even help to know what gear to wear and probably others.
The aim being to help people learn to RP. I know there are some very good guides, but you can only learn so much from a guide and hard to go from paper to the game without some kind of guidance.
Anyway just an idea that popped into my head. Let me know what you think and if any good, maybe expand on the idea.
Edit:
Roleplay School:
Basic Idea: The basic idea is to produce a school to help people learn to Roleplay (RP from now on). This would be a mix of ooc chat and ic chat. The goal is to help, new players or those wanting to learn RP, become able RP’ers, who can then RP on their own and interact properly with the rest of the community. This idea would be best if used on both the Horde and Alliance sides.
How it would work: Simply there would be teachers, students and lessons, though with anything like this you won’t have official titles. Use of RP forums, SSL forums and add-ons would be included.
Teachers: If possible, experienced and well known RP’ers would be the teachers as they would know what new people have to learn. Examples would also be used, as well as accompanying students in actual RP interactions. Teachers would give specific times when they are free to teach and students could sign up. Teachers can refuse to teach people, though would have to give acceptable reasons. Special group sessions can be arranged too, so that students can learn to participate in larger events.
Students: Students would be anyone willing to learn and be willing to listen to teachers. They would sign up to sessions, probably on first come first serve basis, though might arrange for specific people if they have limited time. Students can leave at any time when they feel ready or a teacher can declare them able to RP and not in need of more teaching.
Lessons: Lessons would be personal based on the teacher and what the student has learned, though a rough guide can be used. Certain teachers can specialise if they wish, while others can teach multiple aspects of RP. If a forum is set up then an area for students can be made, where teachers write up what occurred during the lesson. Then another teacher can pick up, whilst avoiding repeating the same information.
Categories of teaching: (here is where I would especially like help to cover all information)
Speech: This would teach people how to speak properly.
Emoting: This would teach people how to emote properly.
Stories: This would teach people the basics on creating and developing stories (though of course stories would be unique)
Lore: This would cover lore and explain to people how to use lore properly and not abuse it (such as what information a player should have.)
Combat: How to fight in RP
Itemisation: This could be teaching people how to figure out what equipment they should wear.
Interaction: How to interact with people.
Group events: This would teach people how to interact in larger groups (4-6 probably)
Large events: Special sessions where large group interactions occur
Management: These could be special sessions where a student is taught how to create their own large events or run a guild. This would probably not apply to everyone and so would be more unique teaching.
Ok that’s what I have so far. I would really love some more in put from the RP community.
Forgot: Thanks to Manovan. his guide helped me get basic ideas.
